We provide free and low-cost assistive technology to Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in Bristol, thanks to funding from Bristol City Council.

Whether it’s hearing the doorbell, catching a phone call, or managing TV volume, our Equipment Service offers practical solutions tailored to your needs.

🔊 What Kind of Equipment Do We Offer?
We supply a wide range of specialist devices, including:
• 💡 Flashing doorbells and entry alerts
• 📞 Amplified telephones & personal listeners
• 📺 TV listening aids
• ⏰ Vibrating alarm clocks & baby monitors
• 🚨 Silent alert pagers

Most equipment is fully funded and free to eligible residents. We also refer on to Avon Fire Services for home fire safety support.

🏡 How the Service Works

  1. Free Home Visit & Assessment – Our trained Equipment Officers visit your home, assess your needs, and demo suitable devices.
  2. Installation & Support – We install the equipment, loaned to you free of charge for as long as you need it.
  3. Ongoing Advice & Repairs – We provide follow-up support to keep things working smoothly.

💷 Costs & Funding
Most equipment is free for eligible Bristol residents. If you’re outside of Bristol, equipment can also be purchased directly through us.

Equipment Resource Room

We have a resource room where we provide information, demonstrations and expert advice on equipment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. Open Monday to Friday, 10.30am-1:00pm, we welcome people with any form of hearing loss as well as families, friends and professionals working in this field.
