Deafness Connects Us

Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People is proud to receive funding from South Gloucestershire Council to provide monthly sessions for Deaf and hard of hearing residents in the community.

The funding will cover hosting nine sessions across South Gloucestershire for social interaction, support and information  and support services that deaf people may find useful.

Our sessions will have a central focus on the five ways to wellbeing:

  • Connect with other people
  • Be physically active
  • Learn new skills
  • Give to others
  • Pay attention to the present moment (mindfulness)

We understand the past challenges and barriers people with hearing loss have experienced when trying to access council services. To address this issues, some South Gloucestershire Council departments will attend the sessions where we will provide communication support to ensure residents have an equal opportunity to address individual problems and learn more about services available.

CfD are proud and excited to work in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council. There are always ways we can improve what we offer, so please do feel free to share feedback, suggestions and any comments with our team:

…I was very satisfied with the service. The two staff were professional and easy to communicate with. They were able to explain everything clearly and quickly gave me the replacement equipment.
