Bristol Disability Pride Day 2026
CfD had the pleasure of working alongside Bristol Disability Equality Forum (BDEF) to support Bristol City Council's Disability Pride event 2026 which was held on Saturday 20th June.
The event brought together disabled and deaf people, along with allies, to share their insights on how accessibility at City Hall could be improved. BSL interpreters and live captions were provided throughout the day, alongside neurodiversity support, a hearing loop, a quiet room, and wheelchair access. These adjustments ensured that everyone could participate on an equal footing, contribute their ideas, and feel included without the barriers they often encounter.
The programme included a panel discussion on the future of accessibility, a creative and interactive BSL workshop, and a film room. A wide range of organisations, including the Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, hosted stalls to share information about the work they do. Throughout the day, we met many inspirational people, passionate about creating positive change and improving accessibility. It was a fantastic event to be part of, and we hope next year’s event will be even bigger and better.
