Deaf Equality Training

Is your business or organisation Deaf-friendly?

Would you like to be more confident when communicating with Deaf or Hard of Hearing customers and colleagues?

We provide Deaf Equality training designed to improve communication and remove barriers between Deaf and hearing people. Our training can support you to not only meet your requirements under the Equality Act but also enhance working relationships within teams and improve access to your services.

What does the training cover?

Our half and full-day courses are customised to meet your needs but typically include:

  • Why be Deaf-friendly?
  • Clear communication
  • Induction loops and other technological solutions
  • Basic sign language skills
  • The Equality Act 2010 and definitions of disability

The training can be delivered at your own venue or at our accessible offices at the Vassall Centre in Fishponds.

Testimonials

“David provided an entertaining and informative training program which helped me better understand what our working environment was like for a deaf colleague. The session answered a lot of questions that it might have otherwise been uncomfortable to ask of a deaf person. Feedback from the rest of our team has been great and all who attended found it very worthwhile.”
ARAG Legal Services

“David provided our Health and Social Care students with an engaging and informative session. The session was not only useful for the course they are studying but also for their day to day lives. The session really challenged students’ thinking and helped to promote their understanding of what hearing loss is, what it is like to experience hearing loss, and how to communicate clearly with someone who has hearing loss. The students found the information on clear communication particularly interesting and useful. I feel that the information in the session will be something they will always remember. David was also very approachable and open and both groups of students who took part in the session felt they were able to ask any questions without feeling uncomfortable.”
