The Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (CfD) has a rich history going back over 140 years in Bristol. We moved to a new location in Fishponds in 2015 and we are now looking for more Trustees to join our Board as we go through an exciting time of growth and redevelopment.
Our mission is to represent and support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing population of Bristol and beyond. Currently our main activities are as follows:
We run an equipment service funded by Bristol City Council, which provides listening aid and visual alert equipment to enable Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to feel safe and more connected at home.
We deliver training sessions for businesses and organisations to raise awareness of hearing loss and promote inclusive communication.
We run a regular coffee morning and promote other social activities within the Bristol area for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.
We provide information and advice to people with hearing loss and their family and friends. We also share our knowledge and experience with other professionals and champion clear communication practices.
We are working on developing a range of
new projects and would like more Trustees to join the Board for our next phase
We are looking for people with knowledge and skills in any of the following areas:
We are eager to increase and enhance the skills and diversity of our Trustee Board and would welcome applications from people across our communities.
Being a Trustee is a voluntary position but you will be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses such as your travel costs.
This opportunity will help you develop skills around leadership and governance and offer you the chance to make an impact on improving inclusion for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in the Bristol area.
